Point of Sale

A restaurant POS that runs on the phone in your server's apron

Take orders at the counter or tableside, adjust ingredients on the fly, add off-menu items, split the bill any way the table wants, and take card or cash. It runs in a browser, so the hardware is whatever you already own.

No hardware to buy

Any phone, tablet or computer with a browser. That's the whole equipment list.

Fast by design

Keyboard shortcuts for everything an order-taker does repeatedly.

Off-menu welcome

Add a one-off item with a name and a price when a guest asks for something odd.

Split how they want

Evenly, by item, across any number of payers, mixing cash and card.

Order taking

Built for the speed of a real service

The POS assumes you're standing up and in a hurry. Hotkeys drive search, quantity, sending and settling, and the layout stays legible on a phone held one-handed.

  • Keyboard shortcuts across the whole order-taking flow for counter staff on a laptop.
  • Guest and staff orders merge onto the same table bill — nothing to reconcile.
  • Items lock once payment begins, so a bill being settled can't be quietly changed.

Real orders

"No onions, extra sauce, and can you just charge me for the bread"

Real tables don't order off the menu exactly. Staff can adjust ingredients per line, add an ad-hoc charge, or put a genuinely custom item on the bill without breaking your reporting.

  • Per-line ingredient changes — remove, less, more — carried through to the kitchen ticket.
  • Ad-hoc extra charges folded into the line, so the bill still adds up.
  • Staff-only custom items with their own name and price, kept out of stock counts and item analytics.

Settling

Split bills that don't need a calculator

Close the bill from the floor plan and choose how the table wants to settle. Each share can be paid its own way, and tips are collected and tracked per payer.

  • Split evenly or by item, across any number of guests.
  • Mix online card, cash and card-terminal payments on one table.
  • Paid splits are immutable; a re-split only divides what's still owed.
  • Guests paying online see the tip prompt on their own phone.

Roles

Staff see their job, not your business

Servers, kitchen and managers each get a dashboard scoped to their role. Nobody needs to see revenue reports to take an order.

  • A dedicated staff dashboard with POS, orders, kitchen and shifts.
  • Individual logins — offboarding is one click, not a password change for everyone.
  • Order activity is attributed, so you can trace who touched a bill.

The best POS hardware is the phone your server is already holding.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to buy POS hardware?
No. Higgs Menu runs in the browser on the phones, tablets and computers you already have. There are no proprietary terminals to buy or lease.
Can it work with a card machine?
Yes. Card terminal is one of three payment methods you can enable, alongside online card payments and cash. Terminal and cash payments are recorded in Higgs while the money goes to you directly.
Can staff change what's in a dish?
Yes. Staff can adjust ingredients on a line — remove, less, more — and add an ad-hoc charge, and the change carries through to the kitchen ticket.
What about something that isn't on the menu?
Staff can add a custom line item with its own name and price. These are deliberately kept out of stock counts and item-level analytics so they don't distort your reporting.
Can two people work the same table?
Yes. Anything added from the POS joins the same table order as anything guests ordered by QR, so the table settles as a single bill.
